CPR/First Aid training for educators

Location : High Point School Gym

Legislative changes now dictate that public school key personnel, involved in secluding or restraining children and youth, must be trained in CPR/First Aid. The training will include how to use a defibrillator (excludes infants-however after school workers, caring for infants, are required by Michigan licensing to have this certification). Cost is $35 for a 2-year certification. The session is from 2-4 p.m. at the High Point School gym, 1735 S. Wagner Rd., Ann Arbor.

Responsive Mathematics Institute

The Responsive Mathematics Institute is an opportunity for educators to examine mathematics instruction from an equity perspective. Participants will explore the following questions:

  • How does identity influence one’s perception of math? 
  • What are strength based instructional models that can be implemented in the mathematics classroom?
  • How can cultural modeling be embedded within the mathematics classroom?
  • How have I imposed my biases on students?
  • What privileges do I have because of my identity?
  • How can we as educators develop a reflective practice?
